Mancos senior Kayla Goff (3) lets fly a shot over Telluride’s Shelby Brier during 2A-District 3 Tournament ‘Pool 2’ action last Saturday inside Ignacio Junior High School’s gym [Pool 1 was being held inside Ignacio High’s venue]. After defeating Nucla to start their day, the Lady Jays fell in five — 25-20, 25-22, 14-25, 13-25, 9-15 — to the eventual tourney champs, and then had their 2012 come to a close in a five-setter versus the host Volleycats. Scores from the match — the last for Goff, who overcame a left patella popping out of place in the THS match, and Megan Hess — were 26-24, 12-25, 15-25, 25-18, 13-15, as MHS finished fourth, with a 12-10 final record.
