Pretty in Pink Fashion show draws crowd

The Fourth Annual Pretty in Pink Fashion Show last Thursday earned more money this year than ever before.

Tiffani Waters, organizer of the event and owner of Love on a Hanger in Cortez, said that when the dust settled Thursday night at Four Seasons Greenhouse, the event will be able to donate $6,500 to the Women’s Cancer Coalition to help women in Montezuma and Dolores counties with financial assistance for preventative reproductive cancer screenings as well as some financial assistance for the costs of reproductive cancer.

That is $4,000 more than Waters donated last year.

“We are so ecstatic we can donate to such a great cause and I am very thankful that the community pulled together to make that happen,” said Waters.

Money raised came from ticket sales, the silent auction and community sponsors.

Waters said she is already planning for next year’s event.

“Everything went amazingly,” she said. “We had the biggest crowd we have ever had.”

More than 200 people attended the fashion show. Fifteen locals modeled in a fashion show and local beauty experts gave fashion and beauty tutorials.

Desserts were offered and so were dance performances.

“We had a big and awesome silent auction,” Waters said. “Thanks to all the generous people. We would really like to thank everyone and the most generous community we live in for the support they gave and showed and helped earn so much money for Women’s Cancer Coalition to help women in Montezuma and Dolores counties.”

Waters is a board member on the coalition.

“We help a lot of local women,” she said. “Most of our money goes to preventative screenings.”
