Bluejays pound Ridgway

Paschal scores 36 in 87-63 win

Playing on the road against Ridgway on Jan. 24, the Mancos High School boys basketball team pounded the ball inside time and time again. By the time all was said and done, Ridgway wanted no more as the Bluejays cruised to an 87-63 victory.

"(Ridgway) didn't have an answer for our post game," said Mancos head coach Rodney Cox. "I thought that our guards did a good job of getting the ball inside."

Mancos led 27-14 after the first quarter and 45-26 at halftime.

Junior center Ro Paschal led the Bluejays in scoring with 36 points. Senior forward Daniel Christiansen scored 22.

"Ro and Daniel did a good job of working the high low game," said Cox. The guys got them the ball in positions where they could make three and four foot shots."

Ridgway junior Grant Saville scored 30 points in his team's loss. Cox said that overall, he was somewhat unhappy with his team's defense.

"We gave up too many points," said Cox. "I was happy with everything accept for our defense. Not to take anything away from (Saville) though. He's a good ball player."

Senior Jayden Peacock scored eight points for Mancos and junior Adrian Hernandez scored seven.

After travelling to Dolores on Jan. 27, Mancos will play at home against Dove Creek on Jan. 30 and play at home against Telluride on Jan. 31.

"We're just going to keep working on the stuff that we've been working on," said Cox. "Dove Creek and Telluride are always tough and we have to be ready."
