Funeral services are pending for Master Sgt. Robert M. Liddell, who died in Vietnam on April 7.

The Fort Lewis band and choir was greatly enjoyed by Mancos students at the assembly last Wednesday.

Alfred G. Stewart was named mayor of Mancos by voters Tuesday. New trustees are C. E. Cantrell, Lyle Cox, Audrey Frazier, James Holston, Marion Roberts, and Kenneth Wagner.

Ira Kelly has resigned from the Southwest Colorado Water Conservancy District board of directors and former state Sen. Charles Porter has been appointed to that board.

Mrs. Clyde Sheek took a carload of people to Grand Junction on Saturday to watch Mancos in the Mesa Invitational Track Meet.

Spec. 4 Teddy Sraler is home on a 45 day furlough to visit his mother, Mrs. Gene Cantrell and family. (Mattie Cantrell lived for 88 years, and her husband Gene lived for 91 years.)

Brother Adrian Martin is here to conduct a revival at the Baptist Church.

Dick Zufelt entered the Cortez hospital last Wednesday. (Dick was the son of William Zufelt and Mary Wheeler. Mary had a harrowing experience on a hill east of Webber Canyon when her horse fell, breaking Mary's leg. It took her two days to crawl down to the Brinkerhoff place.)

Jose Sena entered the Cortez hospital last Wednesday. (He passed away in 1985 at age 66.)

Members of the Albert Eppich family have suffered two great losses in the past few weeks in the loss of a grandchild and a son-in-law. (Albert and his brother Joe passed away but Albert's daughter, Theresa, married Russell Marcum and is alive and well.)

The Annual Grange Cotton Sewing Contest is being promoted by the Mt. Lookout Grange 330. Anyone wishing further information can contact Lola Roberts, Serena Everett or Mary Coppinger. (Serena married Claude Everett in 1936. She was a member and leader in organizations including the Mancos Cemetery District of which the Cedar Grove Cemetery. In her "free" time she painted scenes of the mountains. She passed away in 2002. Her sons, David and Larry, survived her.

Wayne Noland has written his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oen Noland, that he is stationed in Vietnam about 25 miles south of Can Rhan Bay. (Oen was a son of Lolla Cutch and Oen Edgar Noland. Sons Frank and Douglas and two daughters survived him.)

Larry G. Archibeque, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Archibeque, has won a Fort Lewis College merit scholarship.
