Historical Society requests help on spring cleaning

The Mancos Valley Historical Society can use help on several projects.

The group asks that locals keep it in mind as they are spring cleaning. They are looking for donations of used items in good condition for a yard sale to be held in May.

Items can be dropped off at the Colorado Ranch and Home Realty Office (Carrie Baikie) at 145 Grand Ave. in Mancos during business hours. Funds raised through the project will support a number of efforts, including museum, opera house and a youth activities funds.

Among old items, the group is also seeking used musical instruments. Vice president Baikie states, "Surely many families have an old musical instrument that is no longer being used stored under the bed or in a closet."

These instruments will to be donated to the Mancos Schools music program for students who do not have their own instruments. These can also be dropped off at the Baikie real estate office. This effort is part of a larger project to assist the music program with several pressing needs.

Finally, the group is looking for stories - ghost stories specifically. They are planning a "Ghost Walk" later in the year which will feature supposed hauntings of local establishments.
