How do the geology, geography and climate affect human history and daily life in the Mancos region? "The Geology and Geography of the Mancos Region," a class for children entering third and fourth grades, will help answer that question.

During the weeklong class, children will immerse themselves in hands-on, challenging projects, learn geology and geography concepts and vocabulary, write about new learning, and construct 3-dimensional handmade books to process new knowledge and understanding about the Mancos area.

The class runs Aug. 3-6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Mancos.

The cost is $240, including materials. One partial scholarship is available. Registration deadline is July 27.
